Episode 49: The 2012 Yukon Quest

On this episode of My Yukon Life podcast radio, we jump into the middle of the 2012 Yukon Quest. It has a reputation as the most challenging sled dog race in the world. This year’s race kicked off Saturday, February 4th in Fairbanks, Alaska and will finish in Whitehorse, Yukon the week of the 13th. Sue Thomas, Executive Director of the Yukon Quest, gives us a view of the race from the inside.  We also hear from SPOT tracking expert Melinda Shore, race fans, and of course– the mushers including eight-time Iditarod veteran Hugh Neff who’s making his 12th appearance in this year’s Yukon Quest. This will be the eighth time that he’s competed in both long-distance races back to back. In addition to Hugh we hear from Marcelle Fressineau, Nikolay Ettyne, Trent Herbst, and Joar Leifseth Ulsom.
